Palghat Mani Award

Vid Mannargudi Easwaran was honoured with the "K. Puttu Rao Memorial Palghat Mani Award" by Percussive Arts Centre, Bangalore in June 2006. Started with the aim of fulfilling the long felt need for an exclusive organization for promotion of the interests in the intricacies of Laya and Taala, the Percussive Arts Centre honours an outstanding musician every year with the
Palghat Mani Award. The award includes a citation, a cash award, shawl and the title "Mridanga Kalaa Shiromani".

The maestro feels elated that the honour in the name of one of the biggest percussion artists is bestowed upon him in Bangalore, a city which has always had a special place in his heart. He fondly speaks of his association with the city, which dates back to his student days when he used to come to the city for his Mridangam classes under the Guru Vid Kuniseri U. Krishnamani Iyer.
